At Stapleford Community Primary School we teach French, learning both the language and about the country and culture of France. Through teaching French we aim to foster children's curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. We believe it is important to ensure that competence in another language enables children to interpret, create and exchange meaning withing and across cultures.
French is taught once a week in Key Stage 2, and involve speaking, listening, reading and writing. We introduce many children to French, and the weekly lessons throughout KS2 enables the children to develop early language acquisition skills that facilitate their understanding of the patterns of language and how these differ from, or are similar to English.
